leaves

More designs inspired by nature, with an interesting comparison between this Stig Lindberg dish. I love Lindberg's pottery.

As compared to this leather punched purse by Orla Kiely

I found both of these images whilst wandering on the web. The leaf motifs are so similar, both wonderful objects.

seeds

I am excited about Spring, the sun shone down and threw dramatic shadows across the city buildings today. Now I am looking forward to all the growth of plants and flowers in the coming months. While waiting I am thinking about the beauty and potential of seed pods. Weeds by Howard Bjornson is a beautiful look at plant forms, evoking the work of Karl Blossfeldt, which I greatly admire.

Angie Lewin, printmaker creates beautiful work inspired by seed pods and coastal colours. I especially like this piece.

Pomegranate Crush recipe, from these juicy seeds. I was perked up by a little pot of pomegranate seeds from Eat this afternoon. Seeds of inspiration!

alpine flowers

I found this cheerful postcard today from Mr Bingo's vintage postcards, from reading Ace Jet 170. The perfect sight on a grey January lunchtime.

Chocolate Raspberry Meringues recipe here. Today I admired the beautiful raspberry meringues stacked high on the cake stand at Konditor & Cook.

I am enjoying creating this site, so instant and a pleasing scrapbook resource, ever evolving. Perfect for this month, the month of saving, planning and now learning the details of html!

cityscape

I love these prints by Paul Catherall, a wonderful set of London Underground posters. Seeing these on different tube platforms cheers my journeys. Fantastic graphic visions of London which make me feel proud to be a part of the city.

An urban dish, smoked salmon couscous sushi, sounds good made with my favourite pickled ginger.

the sea

Brighton on the train, a real treat. Rushing past Battersea Power Station in sunshine, racing towards Sussex. Under a bank of cloud and out the otherside to reveal a glimpse of the Jack and Jill Windmill's perched on the Downs, almost at the coast.

Delicious food and drink at terre a terre and then to the beach. Frothy, rough and crashing January waves chasing the pebbles below the pier, set a refreshing scene.

Homeward bound reading the February Elle Decoration full of beautiful photography and the colour palette inspired by British winter seas! A gorgeous article Life less ordinary featuring a Nottingham home full of retro glamour. A yellow fern cushion in this home caught my eye, alas sold out in the west elm sale.

Instead I am happy to show the beautiful west elm interiors shot above, which will inspire me and remind me of the colours seen today flying through Sussex and the great sea.

Cinnamon and Wine-Poached Pears reminiscent of one of the many lunchtime flavours.

sweet memories

Tiny icing-sugared sweet pastries from the Azorean island of Graciosa. Beautiful to eat and photograph, the finest pastry shell with a centre like a Bakewell pudding without the jam. Sweet memories of May 2006.

I am looking forward to reading Apples for Jam, a superb combination of recipes, memories and sumptuous photography. But first Falling Cloudberries has to be absorped.

Birthday Cakes Birthday Book was a great find before Christmas, here's to more baking.
