finland post

A visual correspondence of my impressions of Finland. A trip to Moomin valley exhibition, Tampere. Such a treat, a second dose of fresh Spring and small wonders of nature.

Tampere to Helsinki by train.

Helsinki; an exciting, peaceful city with much to explore.

Impressive architecture on arrival at the train station. Plenty to admire at the Arabia shop and one of the many Marimekko's in Helsinki.

Wandered around to find the Ivana Helsinki shop in the Design District. The shop currently decorated with graphic moth illustrations and suspended fabric butterflies.

Helsinki harbour market, so much to see; fresh pea pods by the cup, Sea buckthorn berry jam, a man carving tiny bears from chunks of wood, lily of the valley by the bunch, wooden spoons, many types of fresh fish, rye bread rings. Little gingham printed stools and tables from which to watch the world go by.

Many Russian influences in the city and we travelled to Tallinn, Estonia for a day by boat. A packed four days of inspiration.

simply delicious

Brand new simply breakfast, from simply photo. Looking forward to seeing this collection develop, so inspiring for the most important meal I never leave enough time for. There's a wonderful sense of peace, indulgence in time and occasion in these images.

sleep

Wonderful, Yawn by Catalina Pimentel, perfectly sums up how I feel today. Post pancakes I am still determined to keep up this blogging business, but too tired today to add a lengthy post. This is how I hope to be soon! Beautiful photographs.

A Pancake recipe for the analytical, needed this earlier and a whisk.

midnight ocean

The beautiful start and close of the new season mini-catalogue at Habitat. Wonderful photography, colours and inspired room and outdoor settings. More than anything it makes me wish I was on holiday at the seaside.

Power Waffles with Yogurt, Bananas & Almonds, if only I had a waffle iron! What a long week, good night.

london paper

Hunter S. Thompson is a mystery to me but I was amazed by this image in the london paper tonight. The mood, the light, the sense of nature, the romance of Big Sur under the Californian sun. This photograph appears with more of Thompson's work at the Michael Hoppen Gallery.

Thank you little birds, your granola sounds amazing. I'm looking forward to making it. I added chopped hazelnut to my oat topped pear and apple crumble yesterday, and extra toasted today, each piece is a treat.

reclaimed beauty

Discovered this glass panel, in an old door at a reclaimation yard at the weekend, another bird facing, appears in the opposite panel. Beautiful to admire so closely.
