delicate

Dazzle is on in Glasgow, out of reach but it has made me think how inspired the January show in London left me.

This roof window always reminds me of Paris, instead it is near the Thames, Battersea way in London. I like the way studying tiny beautifully crafted jewellery strengthens my awareness and appreciation of design and skill in the creation of large scale wonders such as this patterned roof top.

Here is the work of three jewellers I especially like, appearing at Dazzle's Glasgow show, until 6th May.

rule below

Captured at my friends allotment on Good Friday or 'Great Friday' as it was refered to by one of the children.

Here is the first of my weekly posts, a better way; making more of these light evenings and appreciating the sunsets. Most, not all of the blossom has blown away now and I am amazed how leaves have grown since last week.

I am drawing a metaphorical line under random regular posting and looking to begin more thoughtful mid week posts, a small routine in a chaotic life.

Today I bought the book, hinted about last Tuesday. The Happy Campers is a fantastic book, which brightened a double decker bus ride home. Happiness on the printed page. Images from the website and all the illustration is by co-author Kat Heyes, also Kat's blog.

More inspiration discovered from illustrator Hennie Haworth. I love the techniques combined to make such striking images, here are a selection of pieces.

I discovered Hennie Haworth illustrated an article for the Guardian G2, in November 2006. The on-line article makes an amusing read about organic vegetable boxes and includes a couple of recipes.

Taking part in colour week on my blog has been interesting, the theme has led and each post has taken care of itself. This has made me think, especially how I loved returning home after my week's holiday to catch up with the creativity on my favoured blogs.

I have been finding posting time consuming from getting sucked into the vacuum that the web is when immersed. Feeling I am posting for the sake of it, over tired and straining my eyes. Wondering if I am typing into the ether.

So to rekindle that feeling of returning and get some interest back I am going to now post once a week. This should give me time to gather lots of inspiration and rest, which my mind needs. Busy minded is how I feel, in a negative way. I have a train journey to enjoy tomorrow, a chance to refocus and let my mind wander.

Treats & Treasures projects are an inspiration, and I love this Rose box. I will get back to my knitting and all my thoughts of projects, unfinished and not yet begun.

vintage fajance

My Stig Lindberg fajans vase, a proud purchase from ebay. Beyond admiring the decoration I wonder if it has a few stories to tell, delivered from California to me with unknown owners before. Here is more of Lindberg's ceramic work.

These tureens at 92 are painted by the same artist as my vase, the bell symbol is that of Inge Klinte. I also purchased a Gustavsberg factory brochure with a key to artists marks.

I have loved Stig Lindberg's work since discovering a vase printed art pillow in Design House Stockholm, Sweden. More Lindberg fabric designs have since been reproduced.

I was so pleased to find bloesem's weekend reads, a wonderful idea, vintage ceramics is a gem of an article.

Finally SKÅL, another fajans piece designed by Stig Lindberg and painted by Inge Klinte.

Glamorous fairy cakes, a pretty reference to finish, to go with the whimsical beauty of the glazed flowers.

chelsea treats

Oh how I love this time of year! I have been out enjoying the springtime as much as I can and loving the light evenings. Here's the Albert Bridge at Chelsea which lights up at twilight, magically. The Plane tree seeds decorated the sky at sunset.

A visual treat, the windows of Designers Guild in Kings Road. Beautiful spring flower displays with a Claire Coles teacup and Karin Eriksson vase. Fantastic colours, always an inspiration.

Yesterday I watched the sun set behind the chimney pots from the otherside of the Thames. Looking forward to more riverside walks, watching Comorants fly and plenty of daydreaming.

Rhubarb & Ginger cake.
